B2B, not B2C

Built trade-to-trade.

Most trade platforms are B2C — built for homeowners hiring tradespeople. Subby Hub is B2B — built for trades working with other trades. They solve different problems; here's how the two compare.

B2C — Business to Consumer

  • A member of the public needs a job done
  • They post it online and tradespeople quote
  • The lowest price usually wins
  • Reviewed by homeowners and the general public
  • Examples: homeowner-facing trade platforms

B2B — Business to Business

  • A trades business needs labour
  • Find subbies directly — credentials and insurance on every profile
  • Scope and quotes agreed directly between professionals
  • Reviewed by tradespeople with trade knowledge
  • That's Subby Hub.

Frequently asked questions

Getting started

Is it free?

Free to sign up and free to use in the early stages. Paid features will be introduced later as the platform grows — you'll always know what's coming before it does.

How is this different from other trade platforms?

Most trade platforms are B2C — they connect homeowners with tradespeople. Subby Hub is B2B — it connects tradespeople with each other. You're finding work from trade companies, not the general public.

Do I need to be GST registered?

Up to you. Subby Hub doesn't collect or display GST numbers — your tax setup is between you and your accountant. We welcome subbies at all stages.

Can I use it if I'm just starting out?

Absolutely — sole traders, one-person companies, brand new operators all welcome. Your profile gives you a professional presence from day one.

How do I get paid?

Invoice the business directly through your accounting software (Xero, MYOB, Hnry, etc.). Subby Hub connects you with the work; payment terms are agreed between you and the business.

How do I show my credentials?

Upload your insurance certificates, qualifications, and licences directly to your profile. Businesses can see exactly what you've uploaded before they reach out.

Hiring & posting jobs

How do I know subbies have the right credentials?

Every profile shows what the subby has uploaded — insurance certificates, trade qualifications, licences, and more. These are self-declared, so always confirm directly before engaging anyone. The ratings and reviews system gives you a real-world picture of who can be trusted.

Can I post a job without signing up?

A free account is required to post job listings. Signing up takes less than two minutes and gives you full access to the subbies directory and job board.

General

Is Subby Hub live now?

Yes — the Auckland beta is live. We're focused on Auckland first so the marketplace fills up with the right mix of trades before opening to the rest of NZ. Other regions coming soon.

Do I pick "subby" or "business" when I sign up?

Neither. Everyone gets one trades business profile, and you can do both — post jobs when you're hiring, browse work when you've got time. No role to choose, no separate logins.
